Why I started This Business.

happiness being a business owner

Growing up, I was very close with my Grandmother, and her sisters. My Grandmother, (Mama,) was a retired nurse, and the wonderful matriarch of our family. Unfortunately, she had some health issues, which limited her mobility. I would have loved for her to come to my ultrasound appointments to see my babies when I was pregnant. Instead, my doctor's office, allowed their patients to bring a VHS tape to the ultrasound appointments. (The ultrasound machines back then had a built in VHS recorder in them. lol.) My doctor was kind enough to record the entire ultrasound, which I brought to all my relative's houses so I could show them my baby. This was my inspiration for starting Hey, Baby!

Fast forward 15 years, and I decided I was ready to go to college. Our youngest child was starting kindergarten, and I started my freshman year at RIT. My husband, Matt, was extremely supportive of my decision to pursue a degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography- (which is fancy talk for Ultrasound.) I graduated 4 years later in 2015 with my Bachelors degree, and was hired right away with my first job in ultrasound! It was a wonderful experience- I learned a lot about patients, ultrasound, and how to teach new students about proper office etiquette & scanning. After a few years of working at the doctor's office, I came up with an idea one day. I told Matt one day: "I have an idea." He replied with "It sounds expensive." I said "What?! I haven't even told you my idea yet!" lol- but he was rightttttt..... it WAS going to be expensive, but we both agreed that it was a great idea! So after some extensive research, Hey, Baby! Mobile 4D Ultrasound was born!

In December of 2017, I purchased a fabulous portable ultrasound machine, and started my own business. Yes, it was a ton of work- but it was so wonderful! I have never been happier! Having the ability to do something I love, while being my own boss, is a true gift. I continued working at the doctor's office, while I grew my business. In February 2022, I decided it was time to take Hey Baby full time! It was scary to leave the security of the full time job, but I was ready to be out on my own.

It was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I have been loving my new life! Thank you, Matt, for being so supportive of me- and for believing in me, and being my biggest cheerleader. I'm the luckiest girl alive. :)
